HOT, HOT, HOT

I know it is Colorado and there is still snow on Sopris, and really I don't think it was over 70º outside, it got up to 75º inside today... but we are MELTING! Poor David drank so much formula that is diaper has overflowed twice today, both in about an hour a piece... I hope he sleeps better tonight, but we have three 4 oz bottles ready for him as he is eating at least that much ever 2 hours... he ate 5 just now before bed... he is still not quite asleep yet... but I pretty much am, lol! Here are a few cute pics from today... he really enjoyed his bath... well, being cool after the fact that is :-)

Another first!

Well, David has smiled (not that he knew it, lol)... frowned, pouted (Josh, my brother did this when he got upset and we would tease him by saying "a little bird is going to pirch on your lip if you keep doing that!" -David can look forward to this as well it seems!), cried, held my finger, gained weight, stopped crying at every diaper and clothing change and started sleeping in his bassinet at night... but the new first yesterday was self soothing by putting his fingers in his mouth! He has tried and tried to get a thumb or finger in his mouth, but could just get his hand close enough to suck a side of it... yesterday he was using his fingers as a "binky"! Very big in development as it takes a lot of muscle control to get his hand and fingers in position, let alone keep them there for any amount of time!
Well, everyone is tired and taking a "day off" -meaning Charlie catches up on house work while me and David nap... what a great guy! We have learned the importance of burping... and with the amount he eats we have to do a lot! We have both also learned you can't be half asleep while changing a little boys diaper!
Here is also a pic of his first impression "Dr. Evil" from the Austin Powers movies... note the right hand pinkie finger.

Update!!!

Here are some current pics of the puppies and the rest of the dogs... boy did they grow up! Kermit can't even keep these two girls in check anymore.

In Memory of Wade

I was pulling together all the pictures I have of Wade, his funeral is today so I made a frame of multiple pictures for Kristin. My friends at CP printed them out and Aaron picked them up. I thought I would share a few with everyone. He was a good man.

Two Hands!

Well, the sling I bought came finally. I figured out how to use it... not as hard as some made it sound... tried out the wrapping technique twice and then I got David in it properly on the first try... I can at least type and cook now! Bending over is still difficult, so laundry may be a challenge, or continue to be Daddies job for a bit longer, but I am on my way to being almost independant again, lol! Well, Daddy is home, gotta run!

2nd bath at home

Just a quick pic from Davids second "at home bath" the first week home, been too tired and cranky to take more pics... yes, I mean me AND David. He is so brave, the doctor said he cried less than some babies!
It has been rainy and an old friend died Sunday evening... we heard the sirens from the road just past our place and had no idea we knew the person involved in the accident. Wade was a good friend and his wife Kristin helped me open myself up to so much potential in my life. We haven't been in touch for about a year, but I feel the loss just the same. My heart goes out to his family. I know they were the type of people who lived life day by day, and to the fullest, so they could have no regrets. I hope I can say that at the end of my life, whenever that may be.

Fussy and Tired

Well, Davids weight is going up! So that is good, but we had a bad day at the doctor... cercumcision (sp?) day :-( So we are a little cranky and need our Mommy a lot. He is napping after a bottle and a long cuddle, should be ready to eat again soon. I am a little tired from last night, he didn't want to go to bed when Daddy did, so we ended up sleeping in the recliner after yet another bottle! After a nice 3 hour nap we got up at 2 am and ate again... we went to bed this time though :-) He is eating great and is up to almost 3 oz at a feeding... every 2 to 3 hours. Well, I am trying to have dinner ready for Charlie when he comes home... he is learning to be an electrician! He is very excited about it and plans to take a class next winter as well.
Oh, the stroller arrived today! Thanks Grandma Jill! So I can start walking on the trails in Carbondale soon!
Hope everyone is doing good! :-)

Open Eyes!

Well I am holding "Little Man" so I can't type much... Charlie took a few pics for me... it snowed!
Here is a "Monster" pic as promised... and here is another eyes open pic of David... he is awake more now without needing to be fed the whole time... so wonderful to play with his fingers while he plays with mine and looks at me while making funny faces... such a darling!

Ode to a binky and fuzzy hair...

Well, Cole got the first binky, the green one from the hospital met with certain demise this morning, it fell on the floor during my 5 am pumping and feeding of David. We had a spare that I like better anyway, so the next one we get will be that style. We try not to use it too much, but it is essential in hushing him sometimes when you just can't drop everything (on the drive from the doctor to home) to feed or change him, and during changing, or between bottle refills, the boy can eat! I can't keep up anymore, but am pumping what I can to get him a supplemental feeding of mom between formula feedings. Hopefully I can keep feeding him like that for awhile still, he got enough from me to cure the mild jaundice he had (all babies at this altitude have some level of it) so that is very good!
I wanted to get a shot of his hair, it is so long and fuzzy when I brush it. He is like his dad and Grandma Jill, got some redish color to it, he has my dark blue eyes it seems, Charlies ears and brow line, looks like my family nose also... can't wait to see him change and grow into the person he will be!
I have learned to swaddle and Charlie is getting good at it too, I just taught him a new technique I learned from the book "Happiest Baby on the Block" (thanks Angela!)... it is very interesting and has been great for commercial breaks and breastfeeding, I try to carry it with me everywhere. David is much happier now that his food demands are being met again. So I can leave him napping longer and he slept two six hour spreads last night! He is an eater and is going to grow very fast!
It is great that Charlie can feed him for me also! David loves to nap on Daddies shoulder.
The dogs are doing good, Vodka and Cole are interested in him, but not overly, and are starting to "get over him" already, Cole I think is already tired of his crying, lol... she will moan at night if he fusses too long... but all are getting along great! Cole is happy to have Vodka back, I will try and take a pic of them again someday! :-)

Thank you!

I just wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone who has sent cards, gifts, money, advise and good wishes. I will send out an official thank you/baby announcement soon I hope. I also want to thank; my Mom for coming out and helping for the first week, if it wasn't for her I don't know how I would have made it... she cooked and helped clean and more importantly held David when I needed to have a break. A big thank you also to Jill (Charlies Mom) for the meat and the lasagna another huge help! Thank you to Megan for a wonderful baby shower! We got lots of gifts, shared great baby stories and ate lots of food -something I seem to do a lot still, lol! Also thank you to Aaron for watchin not only Kermit (Charlie is working on his "special needs" kennel), but for keeping Vodka for the last month of my pregnancy as well as these last few weeks of adjustment. She comes home today!
Oh, if you want me to email you links to the photos I upload to my yahoo photos please post your email in a comment (I will not post your email!), and I will sent you a link.

Tired but doing good...

My Mom is here helping for a week, thank goodness! I am sore and very tired so having her cook for us and help Charlie who is also sleep deprived and working nights has been wonderful. Once I am not in pain (getting better every day) I think things will get easier. David is good... had his first check up today and has lost about a pound, my milk didn't come in until Tuesday so they want to weigh him again sat. to check that he starts gaining now, which he should the way he eats.
His umbilical cord fell off today! Now he has a belly button :-)
Well, I can't sit on this chair very long, so I will go for now... here is a new pic.

Back online... no baby yet

Well, we just got high speed internet! So I am breaking away from bed rest quickly to post a few pics from the last few weeks, I just got a new camera and I have been playing with it so I know what I am doing when David arrives. It takes video with sound, so if I can figure out how to work with it online you can expect to keep updated with Davids antics as he grows up. Well, better get back to laying down. Here is a picture of Mt. Sopris from the Carbondale side as well as one after a recent snow from our view at home. A picture of Cole enjoying the new house. Possibly the last preggers pic of me at 38+ weeks. Also one of the nursery that Charlie has lovingly put together. He has unpacked almost everything and has the house looking great! I can't wait til I am allowed to help out and finish our house that he has worked so hard for and on. Hope everyone is doing well.
